Regulation can feel like a minefield; needing to meet the required regulatory standards. However, ultimately regulation is there to ensure the regulated markets are honest and consumers get a fair deal. Having always worked in financial services I understand first hand the difficulties faced in achieving regulatory expectations, often with limited resource and sometimes limited buy in. I have held the SMF 4, Chief Risk Officer Function with the PRA and FCA , and the SMF 16 and 17 Function with the FCA, and whilst in these positions have gained appreciation for the challenges faced at Board level through to embedding process and procedures.
With this in mind I wanted to offer a different type of consultancy, providing expertise either on one off projects or providing a more bespoke package for those seeking ongoing regulatory advice and assistance, from presenting to Boards or ‘rolling up my sleeves‘ and working with a business to achieve a successful outcome. I am personable, realistic and pragmatic being able to adapt my approach and style depending on the audience and the messaging and especially with those smaller firms can take a proportionate approach, whilst still taking into consideration the broader impact to the business. Able to assist firms and individuals with implementing new risk management frameworks, driving risk management practices within strategic objectives through to aligning risk and compliance assurance and ultimately policy and procedures. Communicating risk at all levels and providing sound advice regarding the benefits of a practical, functional and uncomplicated risk framework covering all aspects of risk.
With ever increasing focus on conduct risk and good customer outcomes it is imperative firms are more flexible in their approach to complaints handling. Whether it’s reviewing process, changing culture to a more customer centric enviroment or promoting complaints, as a means to add value to a business, I can provide the support you require.
From independent assurance reviews, health checks or assistance in raising consumer standards I can provide guidance and support in defining a customer centric culture which takes into account the four outcomes, alongside the cross cutting rules and Principle 12. I can also assist in providing suggestions to improve efficiencies by transforming your current processes and controls which allow for consistent ongoing good outcomes.
